These grants are intended to encourage talented young researchers with a strong commitment to cancer research, who have never obtained an AIRC grant before (with the exception of TRIDEO awards), to submit their research proposals. The scientific activity must be carried out in a research organization located in Italy, organized under public or private law, whose primary goal is to independently conduct biomedical research (university, hospital or other research center).

Applicants, henceforth defined also as Principal Investigators (PIs), cannot have more than one active AIRC individual grant at the same time.
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
Hold a PhD or a Specialty degree and 2 to 10 years of research experience after the completion.
Have at least 3 primary research papers as first/co-first, last/co-last or corresponding/cocorresponding author
have never been awarded an AIRC individual grant before
